Swachh Bharath Abhiyan- Any Good?

Streets where heat signature vary and fragrances change beyond every meter, where cuisine is a wide palate, where lifestyles are governed by occupations, where drought is caused by the lack of rain and rain means flood, where dustbins are empty boxes and the floors are traps for waste- Welcome to India!
India has seen the rise and fall of many kings, many races, and many cultures thus has also seen variety of garbage. Plastics, Fabrics, Nylon, Synthetics and the types are endless. For a country bound by culture and religion, if cleanliness is next to godliness, spirituality is not a concern. With a Gandhian principle in mind, the Indian prime minister introduced the concept of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which translates into Clean India Mission to literally sweep the streets clean.

It is a task of toil to have every citizen of the Indian continent behave and follow hygiene instructions. In a country with people holding immense ego, self-pride and lack of social importance, Swachh Bharath Abhiyan came out like a beating to self-upbringing. In a land of values and virtues, Cleanliness campaigns are a downfall for better good.

Spreading its pseudopodia gently and consuming the dirty habits of people and their love for “chucking” stuff on the floors of this wonderful land, this campaign has inspired countries around the globe to keep their surroundings clean. India’s traditions are governed by nature and environmental factors majorly. Indians have the habit of exclaiming at the cleanliness of countries around the world and on visiting them conform to their cleanliness. everyone does it, so I do it” do what? Throw garbage irresponsibly. It doesn’t really hurt or make any less of a person to segregate and dispose waste in an organized fashion. Swachh bharath Abhiyan focuses on forcing the cities and towns of this country to segregate, recycle waste, garbage in ones surrounding. A common goal of our friendly environmentalists thus executed via this campaign.

This conformity is lost by default on touching ground in India. A much commonly heard phrase “everyone does it, so I do it” do what? Throw garbage irresponsibly. It doesn’t really hurt or make any less of a person to segregate and dispose waste in an organized fashion. Swachh bharath Abhiyan focuses on forcing the cities and towns of this country to segregate, recycle waste, garbage in ones surrounding. A common goal of our friendly environmentalists thus executed via this campaign.

Much of its working in the country as I have observed is highly faulty. It’s a serious move, not that one to be played with. This campaign aims at reaching a wide group of people around different cities who can come together and work towards a clean environment.

Very literally taken, people do group up with brooms and uniform T-shirts often looking like Quidditch players  with media coverage and people’s attention only to be seen taking selfies, gossiping, cleaning the same area over and over again and not bringing much difference to the existing piece of land. Many cooks do spoil the broth because they work over one broth. If these cooks were to break into making different broth the case would be different.

It’s a wonderful idea for institutions to introduce this as a mass movement with its people but making good use of the available resource is a better idea. Splitting into groups, focusing on a wide kilometer range and working to make a difference is better than deceiving the motto of the campaign and creating fancy hand prints on a wall to generate proof that you have taken part in the movement. Animals clean themselves, clean their mates and even clean their abodes. Higher in intelligence we still prove to be imbecile if we as human beings cannot even manage to keep our environment clean.

Clean body, clean mind but clean surrounding, clean life

Swachh bharath Abhiyaan focuses on this very aspect. Why insult it when you can put it to good use.

Be shameless, pick up that wrapper that dude in front of you just threw on the floor and dispose it in a bin yourself. Take your broom and help the sweepers with their job. Repaint the wall that surrounds those ugly or nice looking buildings. Stop that random guy who just unzipped his pants to defecate on the walls and ask him to take his business elsewhere.

Yes! One individual can bring a change, only if he is focused at the better good and cares for not anyone’s opinion but his honesty and vision for a better future and works accordingly.
